Ten Thrilling ITV Racing Tips From Expert Steve Mullington This Saturday

There’s a ten live races bonanza on ITV Racing on Saturday afternoon, with the action coming thick and fast throughout the afternoon at Kelso, Newbury and Bangor-On-Dee.

Our horse racing correspondent Steven Mullington suggests a horse to follow in each of the televised races:

1.00 Kelso – 3m½f Mares’ Hurdle (Listed Race)

HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA (NAP) is head and shoulders above most of these in the ratings and can make her superiority count.

I’m confident this step up in distance will suit her too, given the way she finished at Warwick last time.

1.15 Newbury – 2m½f Novices’ Hurdle

Chris and Freddie combine here with the strong favourite KOCKTAIL BLEU. On all known form the grey gelding will be the one to beat off a hurdles mark of 125.

Dan Skelton’s Churchill-gelding Gambino is well worth including in your forecast perm.

1.30 Kelso – 2m5f Handicap Hurdle

Veteran performer COCONUT SPLASH ran a stormer to just be denied by a head at Ayr a fortnight ago, and can bely his double figure odds.

Trainer Nick Alexander does well at this venue, so 20/1 ante-post look very appealing at this stage.

1.50 Newbury – 2m3f Novices’ Handicap Hurdle

GRAND VENDETTA tackles his first handicap on Saturday and if he runs as well as he did at Taunton, then he must be in with a live chance.

Harry Cobden teams up with Paul Nicholls for the ride, and at 13/2 in our sports betting, are worth an each-way bet.

2.10 Kelso – Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle

It’s a fair old round trip from Joe Tizzard’s yard to Kelso, which makes me think that they really sweet on the chances of their mare OUR PEGGY (NB) in this final.

The five-year-old will have learned plenty from Wincanton, and if she can keep a little bit in the tank for the finish, she holds every chance.

2.25 Newbury – 2m4f Handicap Chase

Joel Parkisnon and Sue Smith appear to have found the key to PRAIRIE WOLF this season, having scored twice already.

A drop in class worked wonders last time at Newcastle, and he has the scope to take this Class 2 Chase.

2.40 Kelso – 2m5½f Novices’ Handicap Chase

GLEN ROAD won at this track earlier this season and is still holding his form well, as he showed us all at Sandown.

Carrying Smith’s own colours, the seven-year-old is a solid each-way play.

3.00 Newbury – 2m4½f Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle

Bar for an awkward jump at the last, BETTY’S DAISY could well have won at Warwick 57 days ago, and can return to winning ways here.

Ironically beaten by Jackie Hobbs, this daughter of Jack Hobbs can go well once more under Ben Jones.

3.20 Bangor – 2m3½f Handicap Hurdle

Haydock form usually translates well elsewhere, so I will be sticking with STATIC to make it a duo of wins in the space of 16 days for Donald McCain.

Jockey Charlie Maggs takes off a useful 3lbs, and the stable generally does well here.

3.35 Newbury – 2m½f National Hunt Flat Race

Sporting the same colours as I’m A Lumberjack, CALLISTO QUEEN can come on for her fourth placed run in Warwick bumper back in November.

At odds of 20/1 in our horse racing betting, I’d rather be a player than a layer.
