Aaron Rai Saves William Hill From Sizeable PGA Championship Payout
As mentioned in a William Hill News press release on Monday afternoon, Aaron Rai’s victory at the 2026 PGA Championship saved the firm a sizeable payout.
The Englishman claimed his first major success on Sunday evening, storming around Aronimink to pull clear after a superb four days of golf.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Aaron Rai’s brilliant USPGA Championship victory proved a solid result for us after the Englishman stormed to his maiden major title at Aronimink.
“Rai – who was considered an outsider at 125/1 pre-tournament – became the first Englishman to win the USPGA Championship since 1919, and his success was a much better outcome for our book than victories for some of the more heavily backed players towards the top of the market, including Rory McIlroy and Ludvig Aberg.
“With McIlroy having already won the Masters earlier this year and Rai now adding the USPGA title, we make it 3/1 that the Europeans sweep all four men’s majors in 2026, and 9/1 that every major winner this year is British.”
He was in a strong position going into the fourth round and pulled clear of his rivals to claim a first major trophy.
