- Switzerland were slow starters at this 2026 World Cup after opening with a 1-1 draw against Qatar, but Murat Yakin’s side have grown impressively since. They’ve won each of their last three matches, including a comfortable 2-0 victory over Algeria in the round of 32.
- That win was Switzerland’s first World Cup knockout victory since 1938, and they now arrive in the last 16 unbeaten in seven straight matches. They’ve also lost just one of their last seventeen in all competitions (W11, D6) — a run that should give the A‑Team plenty of confidence heading into this tie.
- Switzerland will look to strike early and manage the game from the front. Yakin’s side have scored first in fifteen of their last seventeen fixtures, a trend that could prove crucial once again. The A‑Team are 23/10 with William Hill to win inside ninety minutes.
- Colombia impressed throughout the group stage, collecting seven points from a possible nine (W2, D1) to finish above Portugal and top Group K. They now stand just ninety minutes away from reaching quarter-final of a World Cup for the first time since 2014.
- It’s certainly within reach. La Tricolor have lost just twice since March 2025 (W10, D5), a run that highlights their growing consistency and confidence, while they’ve also kept five clean sheets in their last seven World Cup matches.
- However, Colombia have won just one of their last three World Cup round of 16 games which will be of concern, punters can back Néstor Lorenzo’s side to win this one inside the distance at 13/10 with William Hill.
