Roberto Martinez Enters Race For Scotland Job

| BY News Team

Roberto Martinez has emerged as a contender to be the next Scotland manager, after his departure from the Portugal job following their World Cup exit.

Martinez (7/1) is a new addition to the market, but it is David Moyes who heads the betting at 11/4 after former favourite Ange Postecoglou dropped out of contention following his appointment as Al Nassr head coach.

Three other Scottish managers sit prominently in the market behind Moyes. John McGlynn is priced at 7/2, while Alex Neil and Steven Naismith are both available at 4/1.

Next Permanent Scotland Manager:

  • David Moyes – 11/4
  • John McGlynn – 7/2
  • Alex Neil – 4/1
  • Steven Naismith – 4/1
  • Roberto Martinez – 7/1
  • BAR – 8/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “David Moyes has quickly become the clear 11/4 favourite for the Scotland job after Ange Postecoglou dropped out of the running, but Roberto Martinez’s availability is certainly worth keeping an eye on. He’s an experienced international manager with a strong CV, and at 7/1 it wouldn’t be a surprise to see support build for him over the coming days.

“While Moyes leads the market for now, this is shaping up to be a fascinating race, and we could see plenty more movement as the search for Scotland’s next manager continues.”
