2026 Wuhan Open Preview and Predictions

| BY News Team

The 2026 Wuhan Open brings together some of snooker’s biggest names as the world’s best players battle for ranking points and the £175,000 first prize in Wuhan. Here are William Hill News’ predictions.

The tournament has quickly become a key fixture on the World Snooker Tour since its introduction in 2023, with Judd Trump winning the inaugural event before Xiao Guodong claimed back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025. With a strong field assembled for the fourth edition, the 2026 Wuhan Open promises plenty of high-quality snooker and a fascinating battle for the trophy.

Predictions

To reach the final: Judd Trump – 2/1

Judd Trump looks the standout value to reach the final at 2/1, and that is the main selection for the 2026 Wuhan Open. The former world number one has already tasted success at this event, winning the inaugural edition in 2023 with a 10-7 victory over Ali Carter.

While Trump can also be backed at 7/2 to lift the trophy, the 2/1 for him to reach the final looks the more appealing play. He has the experience and quality to navigate a strong field, and reaching the latter stages in Wuhan would not be a surprise.

2026 Wuhan Open Preview

The Wuhan Open returns for its fourth edition, having been introduced to the World Snooker Tour during the 2023-24 season. The event has quickly established itself as an important ranking tournament, with Trump winning the inaugural edition before Xiao Guodong claimed back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.

This year’s tournament takes place from 23-29 August at the Optics Valley Gymnasium in Wuhan, with a £825,000 prize fund and £175,000 going to the winner. It is also the third ranking event of the 2026/27 campaign.

Trump is joined at the head of the market by Zhao Xintong at 7/2, while Mark Selby is 6/1 after winning the China Open last week. Selby is likely to be full of confidence and represents a major threat, particularly given his recent form.

Wu Yize is 15/2 and continues to emerge as one of the most exciting players on the circuit. His rapid rise makes him a dangerous opponent, although he will need to maintain his composure against the more experienced names.

Ronnie O’Sullivan and Shaun Murphy are both 8/1, with the pair capable of producing the level required to win a ranking event when at their best. O’Sullivan remains one of the biggest draws in the sport, while Murphy’s consistency makes him a genuine contender.

Neil Robertson is 17/2, another player with the class and experience to go deep, while Kyren Wilson is 10/1. The reigning world champion cannot be dismissed and will be looking to build momentum.

Completing the leading contenders is Mark Williams at 12/1, whose experience and class mean he could prove a lively outsider.

The final market is similarly competitive, with Trump and Zhao both 2/1, followed by Selby at 4/1. O’Sullivan, Wu, Murphy and Robertson are all 5/1, while Wilson is 6/1 and Williams 11/2.

With so much quality on show, it promises to be a fascinating week in Wuhan – but Trump at 2/1 to reach the final is the standout selection.
