PGA Tour Championship Predictions 2026: Two 16/1 Chances Against The Field

All eyes are on the Tour Championship this week, with William Hill News previewing the weekend’s action at East Lake Golf Club.

Scottie Scheffler is the 10/3 golf betting favourite to win the Tour Championship ahead of Rory McIlroy (8/1) and Xander Schauffele (10/1).

Only the top 30 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings have made it to this weekend after a further 20 players were eliminated at last weekend’s BMW Championship, which was won by Wyndham Clark.

Course Fit

Accuracy off the tee is paramount at East Lake. All of the players near the top of the leaderboard 12 months ago were in the top 10 in driving accuracy. It might be a long course, with only a pair of par 5 holes, but it’s not all about brute force.

There’s not been a clear blueprint for success other than that. Strokes gained around the greens and with putter in-hand have been important in recent years, but it’s not often a player will win a tournament without putting well.

Aronimink Golf Club and Sedgefield Country Club, two courses also designed by Donald Ross, have similarities with East Lake. Aronimink hosted this year’s PGA Championship – Ludvig Åberg tied for fourth, while McIlroy and Schauffele tied for seventh.

Of players involved this week, Tom Kim (tied for fifth), Hideki Matsuyama, and Alex Smalley (both tied for seventh) were the best performers at this year’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.

Form Players

Clark had to overcome some tense moments last Sunday, but he was generally phenomenal at the BMW Championship. This doesn’t look like the ideal course for him, however, with Data Golf giving the American the third-worst course fit mark.

Cantlay won this event in 2021 and finished as runner-up 12 months ago. He enters this tournament in excellent form after a second-place last week.

McIlroy was still bemoaning his game after finishing third at the BMW Championship. He’s a three-time winner at this event, though, and must have more confidence after battling for the win deep into Sunday.

Tour Championship Best Bets

• Patrick Cantlay To Win – Each Way (16/1)
• Russell Henley Top 10 Finish (11/8)
• Tom Kim Top 10 Finish (9/4)

You have to go back to the Genesis Invitational in February 2025 for Åberg’s last win. It’s safe to say the Swede is due. He’s had six top fives since then. In the last three events, Åberg has placed 16th, seventh, and ninth, plus he’s third in strokes gained tee-to-green over the last six months.

Cantlay is red-hot and has to be considered in sports betting for this tournament. He hits a lot of greens in regulation and can be highly accurate off the tee. He’s posted three consecutive top 12 finishes and has an excellent record at this course.

Russell Henley is the most accurate driver in the field. He tied for second in 2025 after tying for fourth in 2024. Often going under the radar, Henley has three top 12 finishes in his last five events.

Kim doesn’t miss many fairways. He’s been elite on approach over the last six months, and he’s been putting well over the last three events. A fifth place at the Wyndham Championship shows there’s a path to a high placing for Kim this weekend, plus he tied for 12th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
