BMW Championship Predictions 2026: Wyndham Clark’s Title To Lose On Sunday?
Holding a five-shot lead heading into the final round, Wyndham Clark is the overwhelming favourite in BMW Championship betting. Clark, who won the 2026 U.S. Open, is one shot ahead of Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay.
Clark’s 65 on Saturday was tied for the lowest round of the day with McIlroy, Nicolai Højgaard, Alex Norén, and Sepp Straka – and sports betting has the American as clear favourite to prevail.
Viktor Hovland, Michael Thorbjornsen, J.J. Spaun, and Justin Thomas were among the golfers to fall off the pace in the third round with over par rounds.
Will Anyone Stop Clark?
Not only miles ahead of McIlroy and Cantlay, Clark only has five golfers within seven shots of him. He would need a lot to go wrong to be overtaken by anyone other than McIlroy or Cantlay seeing as he’s shot 65 or better in all three rounds.
At six back, Gary Woodland is second in strokes gained tee to green. Chris Gotterup is sixth in the same metric and also sits on 11 under. Approach play was Gotterup’s undoing on Saturday. Woodland was let down by his putter.
Woodland and Gotterup look like the only players other than McIlroy and Cantlay who could stop Clark from winning this event. The leader would still need to decline significantly from his performance across the first 54 holes, however.
Saturday’s Climbers
Højgaard, Aaron Rai, Jacob Bridgeman, and Straka were some of the biggest climbers on Saturday. All four, along with Norén, will be eyeing further improvement in a pivotal fourth round on Sunday.
The stakes are high for a number of players that are nowhere near winning this event. A top 30 place in the overall standings is required to reach the Tour Championship next week – Højgaard, Norén, Rai, and Straka are on the outside looking in.
Straka needs 11th or better. Rai needs 12th or better. Højgaard will be in with a three-way tie for 18th. Seventeenth or better is required for Norén.
Best Bets
- Gary Woodland Winner Without Clark (7/1)
- Robert MacIntyre Top 10 Finish (7/1)
- Adam Scott Top 20 Finish (11/4)
Woodland shot even par on Saturday, which contributes to him having longer odds than Gotterup. They are on the same score for the tournament, however, and Woodland has a better strokes gained mark tee to green. Poor putting in the third round was probably no more than a blip.
Sudden, uncharacteristically poor putting has cost Robert MacIntyre of late. The Scot was fifth in strokes gained tee to green on Saturday, though, and sits only three shots off the top 10.
Adam Scott is only two shots behind 20th place. Poor putting and approach play saw the Aussie shoot 71 on Saturday, but he only trails Clark, Cantlay, and Woodland in strokes gained tee to green. He could climb the leaderboard in a big way if the putts fall.
