- Manchester United fans would have been filled with hope and optimism ahead of this new season but their side made the worst possible start last weekend, losing to newly-promoted Hull City despite being the heavy-favourites.
- There’s no doubt that failure to win this one on Sunday will bring some huge questions of Michael Carrick even at this early stage, whilst going in ahead at the break would be ideal for the Red Devils, given they’ve lost none of their last 400 home league games when leading at the break, remarkable.
- This is a fixture that tends to favour United though, especially on home soil, where they are unbeaten in their last eight outings against the Tractor Boys (W6, D2), with an aggregate score of 18-2 in the last four meetings, a reason why they are the odds-on 2/5 favourites to win here with William Hill.
- Ipswich bounced back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but despite that achievement Kieran McKenna has departed, leaving Gary O’Neil to take charge as he looks to defy the betting odds and keep the Tractor Boys in the division.
- O’Neil’s side made the perfect start last week becoming one of the two newly-promoted sides to take all three points in their curtain raiser, a late winner for Ipswich against Sunderland will fill them with confidence.
- However, Old Trafford is always a tough place to visit and it’s no exception for Ipswich, who have lost the last five meetings here in all competitions, you have to go back to 1984 for the last time the Tractor Boys were victorious at the Theatre of Dreams, William Hill make them the 6/1 underdogs to end that long wait.
