Next Green Party Leader Odds: Ramsay Favourite to Replace Polanski
Greens lose grip on Holborn & St Pancras by-election, drifting from 7/4 to 10/1 with William Hill.
Former Green Party leader Adrian Ramsay is William Hill’s 5/2 favourite to replace Zack Polanski, following rumours of wavering confidence in the party’s current leadership.
Ellie Chowns is Ramsay’s nearest challenger in the market at 7/2, followed by Carla Denyer at 5/1 and Mothin Ali at 11/2. Rachel Millward and Hannah Spencer are both 7/1.
The Holborn & St Pancras by-election market has shifted sharply against the Greens, with Polanski now 10/1 to win the seat, having previously been as short as 7/4, while Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali is the overwhelming favourite at 1/28.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Zack Polanski has come under heavy scrutiny following his comments after Green party members adopted a motion declaring Zionism a form of racism, which has caused a stir within the party ranks and suggested a change of leadership may be on the horizon.
“Former leader Adrian Ramsay heads our market to replace Polanski at 5/2, with Ellie Chowns his closest challenger at 7/2.
“Carla Denyer is also prominent in the market at 5/1, with Mothin Ali 11/2, and Rachel Millward and Hannah Spencer both priced at 7/1, suggesting there are several names in contention should the party look for an immediate successor to Polanski.
“There’s been a remarkable shift in our Holborn & St Pancras by-election market over the last few weeks, as the Greens with Polanski standing were previously 7/4 to win the seat, but are now 10/1, with Labour the overwhelming favourites at 1/28.”
