Steel City Cup semi-finals: Holding Blaze the Nap at Sheffield
The Steel City Cup has reached the semi-final stage, and I’ve got three bets across this afternoon’s races at Sheffield.
The Nap: Holding Blaze
My best bet of the day runs in the third, and he’s drawn out deep in trap six. HOLDING BLAZE bolted up in his heat by three lengths, leading off the second bend before pulling clear. His time was the second quickest of all the heats, which tells you plenty about his ability.
The draw looks ideal. He’s the sole wide runner in the field, so he should be able to rocket into the first bend and make every yard from there.
He does have a serious contender in Woltemade. That rival met trouble when the pair clashed last week and only snuck through to the semis in third, so he’ll feel he has unfinished business. Blaze has won just once from seven at Sheffield, so he’ll need another career best to hold his old rival at bay again.
Still, this lad has won at various tracks and almost always in the same fashion: leading early and making most. If he gets away cleanly from trap six, he’ll take some catching.
Make sure you tune in for what looks a cracking card at Sheffield this afternoon. Take advantage of the various markets available, plus the price boosts on fancied dogs throughout the day.
I’ve kept it to the one selection you gave me. If you send over the other two bets, I’ll slot them in with the same structure.
