Greyhound Tips: Candolim Typhoon and Charming Charlie the Weekend NAPs at Hove and Harlow
William Hill ambassador Dani Jackson is back with her best bets across the Greyhound Racing cards at Hove and Harlow over the weekend.
Hove, Sunday
Selections:
- 15.19pm: Trap 5 – Vhagar
- 15.38pm: Trap 6 – Candolim Typhoon (NAP)
- 15.57pm: Trap 2 – Teddie
- 16.16pm: Trap 4 – Droopys Plunge (NB)
- 16.34pm: Trap 3 – Scooby The Lady
- 16.53pm: Trap 4 – Burrows Aries (Treble)
It’s a sensational afternoon of action at Hove, with three semi-finals of the George Curtis and Ballyregan Bob Memorial over 740m, plus the Gold Collar over 500m.
My best bet comes in the former, with Candolim Typhoon in the second semi, wearing the stripes in Trap 6.
He arrives on a seven-timer and has flourished since stepping up to six bends. He tried 695m early in the year and finished second both times, but since returning to this trip three months after those silver medals, he’s unbeaten in six.
His running style is a big plus. He’s usually content to sit just behind the pace before rocketing off the fourth turn and powering clear. He’s almost thirty spots quicker than his nearest rival in this semi, and as the sole wide seed, he shouldn’t have any trouble finding a clear run.
He’s a son of Aussie superstar Tommy Shelby and looks to have inherited his dad’s class. I’m looking forward to seeing him stay on strongly to book his place in the final.
Monday, Harlow
Selections:
- 8.34pm: Trap 5 – Charming Charlie (NAP)
- 7.24pm: Trap 2 – Nightingale Crew (NB)
- 6.11pm: Trap 1 Roanna Mamba (Treble)
There’s a new Category One on the block, and it’s a Monday night treat. Welcome to the SIS Sprint at Harlow, with six rapid heats at a venue that supplies plenty of our day-to-day graded fare but has never staged a Category One contest before.
I’m heading to the final heat for my NAP, where a relatively inexperienced type lines up in Trap 5: Charming Charlie.
He started life in the UK over four bends at Romford in Category Three company and ran well without winning in four outings, including three good seconds. The Anthony Dean team then switched things up for his last start, sending him over two bends at Central Park, and he routed his rivals by more than three lengths.
He’s had a couple of trials at Harlow too. The first was decent enough, but the second was a super 15.11, and a run anywhere near that would see him go close to a stormer.
He does have recent Scurry third-placer Newinn Souly to face in Trap 2, but we know all about him. I’m with the unknown commodity in five to set his stall out early and make all.
