Friday at the Shanghai Masters: Ruud & Medvedev Double Value At 10/1

| BY Sam Cox

Friday sees the third and fourth Shanghai Masters quarter finals take place. Here are our top tennis betting picks as William Hill News previews the best of the action on court.

Shanghai Masters Betting Tips Today:

  • Casper Ruud to win 2-1 (15/4)
  • Daniil Medvedev to win 2-0 (13/10)

Rafael Jódar vs Casper Ruud Prediction

Rafael Jódar is a narrow favourite for Friday’s quarter-final duel with Casper Ruud. It’s the first time the young Spaniard has taken on Ruud, a three-time Grand Slam finalist and four-time Masters finalist.

Ruud, despite making a Masters final earlier this year, is a long way from the force he was earlier in the decade. It’s notable, too, that most of his career success has come on clay. He’s only reached two Masters semi-finals on hard courts.

Jódar has made hard work of this tournament, coming from a set down in all three matches. The Spaniard has had a breakout year, but he’s only reached one semi-final at a high-profile tournament. Maybe Ruud’s experience leads to an upset.

Daniil Medvedev vs Tommy Paul Prediction

Tommy Paul has one win in five matches against Daniil Medvedev, and that came on the clay of Rome in 2024. Medvedev saw off an in-form Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, while Paul is yet to drop a set in this tournament.

The form guide points towards a Medvedev win, and the betting markets make Paul a pretty hefty underdog. Medvedev appears to be playing pressure free, seemingly unbothered about qualifying for Turin.

The head-to-head suggests there’s only one winner here. Paul has only reached one Masters hard-court semi-final since the 2023 Canadian Open and his record against top 10 players leaves plenty to be desired.
