Swiss Indoors Basel 2026 Predictions: Ruud And Fokina Represent Value For Punters

Ben Shelton is the tennis betting favourite for the 2026 Swiss Indoors in Basel. The American is the only player inside the top 10 in the world rankings taking part in the event.

Defending champion João Fonseca has withdrawn, but Novak Djokovic was given a wildcard berth.

Big Names

Shelton, who reached the US Open final a matter of weeks ago, is the headline name, but he’s joined by some other stars in Basel. Shanghai Masters runner-up Rafael Jódar and Cincinnati champion Arthur Fils are among the top seeds.

Taylor Fritz’s form leaves plenty to be desired after premature exits in New York, Shanghai, and Tokyo. Djokovic, after a win in Beijing, lost in straight sets to Hubert Hurkacz in Shanghai.

A runner-up in this event 12 months ago and coming off a remarkable run to his first Masters title in Shanghai, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina warrants serious consideration ahead of this event.

Casper Ruud won indoors in Stockholm last year and reached the last eight of this event. Ruud was also a quarterfinalist in Shanghai – the Norwegian will fancy his chances in a wide-open field.

Swiss Indoors Prediction

A compelling case can be made for any of the seeds. Jiří Lehečka, for example, pushed Jódar to three sets in Shanghai and has reached the last eight of the European Open.

Jódar battled to reach the final of the Shanghai Masters, but he fell at the final hurdle to his compatriot Fokina. It’s been a sensational breakout year for Jódar – does he have what it takes to get over that final hurdle after losing his only ATP 500 and ATP 1000 finals?

Since his agonising loss to Alexander Zverev in New York, Shelton hasn’t been the same man. He lost both matches to Czechia and only won one match in Shanghai. At his best, he’s probably the best player on show in Basel, but others are playing better tennis at the moment.

Ruud and Fokina are two such players. Fokina is at the highest point of his career, and Ruud has found consistency, plus he’s got a decent indoor record. We like the value on either player to win this.
