England vs India Third ODI 2026: Predictions, Odds & Betting Tips

| BY Sam Cox

England and India are tied at one win apiece in their three-match ODI series. Lord’s is the venue for the series decider on Sunday, with Harry Brook’s England aiming to make it consecutive series wins over cricket’s dominant white-ball force.

The cricket betting markets make England a narrow favourite for this match. Joe Root’s form is phenomenal in ODI cricket, with 175 runs unbeaten across the first two matches of this series.

Best Bets

  • India to win the match – EVS
  • Joe Root to be England’s top scorer – 13/5
  • Virat Kohli to be India’s top scorer – 27/10

Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Washington Sundar have all made half-centuries for the tourists in the first two matches of this series. Rohit Sharma hasn’t been at his fluent best, but a stacked Indian batting lineup still poses a real threat.

England have had some pretty poor dismissals outside of Root’s sustained brilliance. The top order was dismantled on Thursday, despite a clear plan to bat cautiously against Jasprit Bumrah.

Lord’s Pitch

It’s no secret the Lord’s pitch has been dodgy this summer. Both Test matches played at the Home of Cricket have seen plenty of lateral movement, along with an alarming amount of inconsistent bounce.

There will be slightly different pitch preparation for a white-ball match, but it’s still expected to be a close duel between bat and ball. Top order techniques will be tested.

Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Jofra Archer, and Josh Tongue should have some fun in the early stages.

England’s ODI Form

The Brendan McCullum ODI era hasn’t been exactly encouraging. England are a far cry from the team of the 2010s. A lack of 50-over experience has been telling – aside from Root, it’s all or nothing with the bat, a blistering 350 or being skittled for a subpar score.

With the ball, the balance of the attack looks much better with Archer and Tongue in the XI. It still feels a little muddled without a proper all-rounder they can rely on in both disciplines.

India are the far superior ODI team as it stands, despite England’s undeniable talent in the format.

Prediction

Is it cliché to take Root and Kohli as their respective top team run scorers at 13/5 and 27/10? Yes, it probably is, but there’s value there with the form they showed in the second match of this series.

India are worth backing at evens for this match. It’s so hard to trust the consistency of this England team, and a tricky Lord’s pitch should make their all-out-attack more difficult to apply.
