England vs Ireland Women: Best Bets, Odds & Betting Tips

| BY Sam Cox

England hold a 1-0 lead in their ODI series with Ireland after Maia Bouchier’s blistering century in the opening match. The hosts are overwhelming cricket betting favourites for Thursday’s match in Derby.

Set 282 to win by Ireland in Leicester, England recorded their highest-ever successful run chase for the loss of only four wickets. They had 11.5 overs to spare with Bouchier contributing 104 off 95 balls, which was ably supported by big knocks from Sophia Dunkley, Freya Kemp, and Alice Capsey.

With the ball, Lauren Filer and Charlie Dean were England’s most economical bowlers in the absence of Lauren Bell and Sophie Ecclestone. Bell and Ecclestone are in a quintet of England players that have been given the series off, along with Amy Jones, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

England’s Supremacy

Ireland have lost 19 of their 21 ODIs against England. The second of their wins came in September 2024, which was the last meeting between the sides before this series.

England’s six-wicket win on Tuesday was a reminder of the chasm between the teams. Even after Ireland had set what looked like a daunting total, Bouchier and Dunkley set about chasing the score down without ever really coming under threat.

Clearly looking ahead to the future with core members of the team left out, England gave an opportunity to Jodi Grewcock in the series opener and could bring in Grace Potts, Charis Pavely, and/or Ryana MacDonald-Gay for Thursday’s match.

An appearance in this summer’s T20 World Cup final was a positive for the England setup, but they have only won one of their last five bilateral 50-over series. The semi-final defeat at the 2025 World Cup was concerning, too.

Best Bets

  • England Women Highest Opening Partnership, Most Runs First Over, Most Fours, and Most Sixes (21/20)
  • Sophia Dunkley To Score 50 (7/4)
  • Charlie Dean England Top Bowler (12/5)

We’re backing Dunkley and Bouchier to get England off to a flyer again. Ireland lost Alice Tector early on and may take undue risks against Filer after her impressive display in the opening match.

Dunkley was in excellent form in The Hundred and has carried that over into this series. A strike rate just shy of 120 shows she won’t need to be in long to make it back-to-back half centuries.

Dean took two wickets on Tuesday. Crafty and hard to get away, the stand-in skipper had eight wickets across her final three matches in The Hundred. Ireland know they need to score at around a run-per-ball to be competitive and that will force them to take risks against Dean.
