World Grand Prix Predictions: Fan Favourites Advance To Next Round & Wednesday’s Best Bets
Here are our darts betting picks for the World Grand Prix on Wednesday – looking at three standout matches for William Hill News.
Darts World Grand Prix Predictions Today
- Ryan Joyce to win (11/8)
- Over 4.5 sets (13/8)
- Nathan Aspinall -1.5 (11/8)
Danny Noppert vs Ryan Joyce Prediction
A quarterfinalist at the UK Open and the World Open, Danny Noppert also reached the last eight in Antwerp. He’s ranked eighth in the world and is understandably favoured over Ryan Joyce.
Joyce has already staged an upset at the World Grand Prix by knocking out Michael van Gerwen in the first round. He was also a quarterfinalist in Antwerp before suffering a narrow loss to Ross Smith.
Interestingly, Joyce has a dominant 6-1 head-to-head record over Noppert. We fancy the underdog to extend that advantage on Wednesday.
Gerwyn Price vs Ross Smith Prediction
Ross Smith was the runner-up in the Flanders Darts Trophy and now he faces Gerwyn Price in the World Grand Prix. Aside from a premature exit from the World Championship, it’s been a strong year for Price, with deep runs in the World Matchplay, UK Open, and World Masters.
It’s not an exaggeration to say this is a grudge match with Smith beating Price at the last two events. That ended a three-match winning streak for Price in this matchup.
We expect this to go the distance.
Luke Woodhouse vs Nathan Aspinall Prediction
Nathan Aspinall followed a surprising loss in Antwerp with a 10-9 defeat to Luke Littler in the World Series. A win over Kevin Doets booked Aspinall a second-round matchup with Luke Woodhouse.
Aspinall has won the last six meetings. Woodhouse’s two wins over Aspinall came in 2013 and 2019. Woodhouse, like Aspinall, lost to Damon Heta in the Flanders Darts Trophy and didn’t qualify for the World Series Finals.
The head-to-head record suggests this is a bit of a mismatch, even with Aspinall’s patchy recent form.
