Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:
Chelsea v Crystal Palace – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Chelsea v Crystal Palace with William Hill
- Chelsea well and truly defied the betting odds during the Club World Cup in the USA this summer, the Blues weren’t in the conversation to win the tournament before it started but that’s exactly what they did, beating PSG 3-0 in the final, suggesting this could be a big season for them.
- The worry now for this Chelsea side is the lack of rest, Enzo Maresca’s team have had less than four weeks off to enjoy a break having played out another two pre-season friendlies before this encounter on Sunday, that could come back to bite them as we get further into the season.
- Chelsea have spent quite a lot of money in this transfer window so far bringing in mainly attacking players, the Blues will be hoping they can pick up all three points on Sunday and history of this fixture suggests they will, having won fourteen of their last sixteen meetings with the Eagles (W14, D2).
——————————– - It’s been quite the year for Crystal Palace, winning the FA Cup meant the Eagles picked up their first trophy in 119 years which was then followed up with a victory in the Community Shield on Sunday against Liverpool.
- In a period where Palace fans should be celebrating, there’s still a sour taste for many after ultimately being denied a Europa League spot and now having to face a play-off fixture to secure Conference League football instead, all for events that occurred off the pitch.
- Notwithstanding that, Crystal Palace are a club heading in the right direction and Oliver Glasner will want to make sure his side start much quicker than their last campaign, having picked up just two wins in their first fifteen Premier League games last season.

Nottingham Forest v Brentford – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Nottingham Forest v Brentford with William Hill
- Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action after securing their highest top-flight finish in twenty years, their seventh place last season was enough to secure Europa League football for the Tricky Trees thanks to the off field troubles with Crystal Palace.
- However, it’s not been a great pre-season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side given they’ve not won seven outings so far and have scored just one goal in those fixtures as well, concerning for the Reds, especially after losing the attacking threat of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle.
- With five of their seven pre-season games ending in a goalless draw, i think we’ll see that trend continue in Nottingham on Sunday afternoon and goals in this one seems like a big ask.
——————————– - It’s been all change for Brentford as they embark on their fifth consecutive season in the English top-flight, with the departure of boss Thomas Frank and key players such as Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken, this could be a long campaign for the Bees.
- Keith Andrews is now the man in charge and with only three pre-season friendlies played, it’s hard to see where Brentford are up to in terms of fitness but a slow start in their opening few fixtures could set the tone.
- These two sides have met six times before in the Premier League, Brentford have taken three wins, two draws and just one defeat. Another stalemate between these two sides wouldn’t surprise me as i’m expecting a slow start from both clubs.
Prediction: Double Result – HT Draw/FT Draw (9/2 – *odds subject to change – prices correct at the time of writing*)
