Premier League week four preview: Arsenal the team to beat

| BY News Team

Proving to be one of the most unpredictable starts to a Premier League season in recent years, and with nothing set in stone, we could be in for some more upsets this weekend.

It’s fair to say the Premier League table probably doesn’t look like it will in May, but if it keeps producing results as bizarre as it already has, we won’t be diverting our attention any time soon.

We have previewed some of the best fixtures of the weekend below.

Arsenal v Fulham

Starting the season with wins against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth, Arsenal are the only remaining side in the league with a flawless record and look to have found a system and style of play that suits their new signings and talented young squad.

Scoring nine goals and only conceding two, the Gunners are a far cry from the state they were in this time last season, and it appears that Mikel Arteta, after years of hard graft, has finally got the boys in red playing how he wants them to.

That being said, they go into a tough game against promoted Fulham, and though they are 2/7 favourites to win, anything can happen in the Premier League and it doesn’t take much to halt momentum.

Fulham have had an equally good start considering their Championship status last season, taking a win from high-flying Brentford and draws from Wolves and Liverpool and at 9/1 to triumph here, they might fancy their chances of a first away win this season.

The exciting Gabriel Jesus is 11/5 to open the scoring, while his adversary, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored a 90th-minute headed winner last weekend, is 11/2 and a boosted 9/4 to score at anytime.

Martin Odegaard, who has impressed this season, is 11/2 to score from outside the box and 19/10 to score at any time, while Arsenal are Evens to keep a clean sheet.

Southampton v Manchester United

The start of Southampton’s season has been a mixed bag, with the team from the south coast taking a loss, a draw and a win. They have faced tough opposition in Tottenham, who they lost to 4-1, Leeds, and Leicester, who they beat 2-1.

Choosing not to expand their squad heavily in the transfer market, the Saints are one of the sides tipped to finish in the bottom half of the table, but the odds suggest they may have a good chance of victory against Manchester United.

At 16/5, they are the underdogs but are likely to give the Red Devils a good game, who may be lacking the motivation they had at Old Trafford on Monday night.

United are 3/4 to claim the win at St Mary’s after their impressive victory over Liverpool, and with the quality they possess, they should expect to win this game. A club’s fortune rarely changes with one win, so it could be a while until they are beating sides like Southampton comfortably.

Marcus Rashford, who impressed on Monday, is 7/1 to score first and 11/5 to score at anytime in the fixture, while the Saint’s saviour against Leicester when he scored twice at 1-0 down, Che Adams, is 21/10 to score at anytime.

Chelsea v Leicester City

Chelsea are the heavy favourites to win this one at 2/5. Though struggling in their opening three matches and going into this game off the back of a humiliating 3-0 away loss to Leeds, they have played some good football, and it is likely only a matter of time before they start firing on all cylinders again. It could be an intensely fought battle as both teams will look to make amends for poor displays this season, and at 6/4 for the match to feature over 3.5 goals, this could be a high scorer.

Leicester have also started poorly and are in desperate need of a win, so it seems likely that both teams will end up scoring in the tie at 4/5.

Raheem Sterling is 11/10 to score his first Premier League goal for Chelsea, and at 5/4, Armando Broja could also open his Premier League account for the season.

Leicester’s biggest threat looks like it will come from Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, who are 17/10 and 11/5 to score at anytime in the fixture.
