Scottish Premiership Predictions: Sunday’s Betting Tips & Odds

William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Sunday’s William Hill Premiership action from across the country.

Hibernian v Celtic Prediction: Match Result & 2+ Match Goals – Celtic (17/20) | Hibernian 1-2 Celtic (13/2)

Motherwell v Hearts Prediction: Hearts To Win (11/10) | Motherwell 0-1 Hearts (17/2)

Two William Hill Premiership fixtures take place on Sunday, with both of the league’s top three sides in action facing opponents struggling for form.

Hibernian welcome league leaders Celtic to Easter Road in the lunchtime kick-off at 12pm, with the hosts desperately looking to climb off the bottom of the table.

Motherwell then entertain third-placed Hearts at Fir Park at 2pm, as the Steelmen look to put an end to their five-match losing streak against a visiting side also hoping to bounce back from recent defeats.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some William Hill Premiership odds and betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:

Hibernian v Celtic – Sunday, 12pm

  • Hibernian have endured a difficult start to the Premiership campaign, collecting just seven points from their opening nine matches (W2, D1, L6). The Hibees sit bottom of the table following last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat against Falkirk, leaving Marink Reedijk’s side without a league victory in six games. Goals have also been difficult to come by, with Hibs finding the net just four times during that winless run.
  • Easter Road has offered little comfort for Hibernian recently, with the hosts managing just one point from their last seven Premiership matches on home soil. They also face a Celtic side who have won four of their last six visits to the ground (W4, D1, L1). Hibs will be hoping to cause an upset on Sunday at 17/5 with William Hill, although their recent results suggest another difficult afternoon could be on the cards.

  • Celtic have enjoyed an excellent start to their Premiership title defence, winning eight of their opening nine league fixtures to sit four points clear of Rangers. Martin O’Neill’s side have scored 23 goals while conceding just five, giving them the best attacking and defensive records in the division. Last weekend’s emphatic 7-1 victory over Hearts only strengthened their position at the top of the table.
  • However, their domestic form has been in stark contrast to results in Europe, with Thursday’s 2-1 home defeat against Celta Vigo leaving Celtic without a point from three Europa League matches. The Bhoys have now lost five of their last seven fixtures in all competitions, although they have won their last two league matches without conceding. Celtic will be hoping to continue that impressive domestic form against the division’s bottom side, the visitors can be backed at 13/20 to win on Sunday.

Motherwell v Hearts – Sunday, 2pm

  • Motherwell have suffered a disappointing run of results following an encouraging start to the campaign, losing each of their last five Premiership matches. The Steelmen have conceded 12 goals during that spell while scoring just three, with last weekend’s 3-2 defeat at Kilmarnock leaving Alfred Johansson’s side tenth in the table. Another defeat on Sunday would make it six consecutive league losses for the first time since April 2003.
  • The hosts will also be looking to end a poor recent record against Hearts, having failed to win any of the last seven league meetings between the clubs (D4, L3). However, each of the previous three encounters at Fir Park has ended level, including two goalless draws. Motherwell will be hoping home advantage can help them stop their losing run against a visiting side struggling for results on the road, the hosts can be backed at 21/10 with William Hill.

  • Hearts travel to Fir Park looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, having suffered a heavy 7-1 loss against Celtic last weekend before Thursday’s 2-0 European setback at Trabzonspor. Wouter Vrancken’s side still sit third in the Premiership table with 16 points from nine matches, while their tally of 20 league goals is bettered only by Celtic.
  • However, the Jambos have struggled away from Tynecastle this season, collecting just four points from their opening five Premiership matches on the road. Hearts have also won only two of their last 12 away league fixtures (D3, L7). Despite those struggles, they remain unbeaten in seven meetings with Motherwell and will be looking to extend that run against an out-of-form home side, punters can back Hearts at 11/10 to win this one.
