Germany and Ivory Coast both opened their campaigns with victories, and they now meet at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday in a showdown that could secure a place in the World Cup round of 32 with a game to spare.
Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Saturday’s fixture:
Germany v Ivory Coast – Saturday, 9pm
View all available markets at William Hill.
- Germany head to Toronto after cruising through their opening match of the tournament with a dominant 7-1 victory over Curaçao. Julian Nagelsmann’s side have now won each of their last ten games in all competitions, and they know that another three points here would secure their place in the round of 32 with a game to spare.
- There will, however, be a slight concern over their recent World Cup defensive record. Germany have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven matches at the tournament, a run stretching back to the 2014 final against Argentina. That puts added emphasis on maintaining their excellent attacking form — they’ve scored two or more goals in nine of their last ten outings.
- Starting fast could be crucial, and Germany have made a habit of doing exactly that. They’ve scored first in nine of their last ten matches, and William Hill price them at 19/20 to win the first half on Saturday.
- Ivory Coast also opened their campaign with a victory, albeit in far tighter fashion, as Manchester United’s Amad Diallo struck a 90th‑minute winner to extend the Elephants’ winning streak to five matches — a run that includes impressive victories over European opposition in Scotland and France.
- Emerse Faé’s side may count themselves slightly fortunate, with Ecuador striking the woodwork three times, but they won’t care. Just a single point from their remaining two fixtures should be enough to see Ivory Coast progress from a World Cup group for the first time in their history.
- Germany, however, represent a major step up. The four‑time champions have lost just one of their last eight World Cup matches against African opposition (W5, D2), underlining the scale of the challenge ahead. Even so, William Hill price Ivory Coast at 9/2 to end Germany’s dominant run and take all three points.
Bet Builder Hub:
- Total Goals – Over 2.5 – Germany have seen three or more goals in each of their last six games.
- Total Cards – Over 3.5 – Juan Gabriel Benítez is the man in the middle, he’s produced at least four cards in each of his last three games.
- Total Corners – Over 10.5 – Three of Germany’s last four games have seen eleven or more corners.
