Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Monday’s fixture:
Spain v Cape Verde – Monday, 5pm
View all available markets at William Hill.
- Spain arrive at the 2026 World Cup as one of the leading contenders to lift the trophy, though they will need to improve on recent tournament showings, having failed to progress beyond the last sixteen in each of their last three World Cup appearances.
- The Euro 2024 champions come into this opener unbeaten in ten matches across all competitions (W7, D3) and are heavy favourites to start their campaign with a win against a Cape Verde side ranked 67th in the world.
- With Luis de la Fuente’s team such strong odds‑on favourites, the handicap market may offer greater appeal. Spain -2 on the handicap is priced at 17/20 with William Hill, and with fourteen of Spain’s last seventeen fixtures producing at least three goals, another comfortable victory for La Roja looks likely.
——————————-
- Cape Verde are one of four nations making their World Cup debuts this summer. The Blue Sharks finished above Cameroon in their qualifying group and arrive at this curtain‑raiser unbeaten in their last three matches.
- That run includes an impressive 3-0 victory over Serbia, extending their strong record against European opposition to just one defeat in thirteen matches (W5, D7). Bubista’s side may view this fixture as something of a free hit, with their more realistic opportunities for points coming later in the group.
- A win here would rank among the great World Cup shocks, and understandably so. Cape Verde are a sizeable 22/1 with William Hill to stun the tournament favourites and claim a famous victory.
Bet Builder Hub:
- Fourteen of Spain’s last 17 matches produced over 2.5 goals.
- Mikel Oyarzabal has scored in each of his last six games for Spain.
- Ferran Torres has produced three assists in his last six international outings.
