Bet on The Open at William Hill
Much has been said about Rory McIlroy’s chances of success this year and the Northern Irishman will be hoping to add a sixth major to his trophy cabinet.
Fresh from finishing second at the Scottish Open last weekend, McIlroy is right near the head of the betting at Royal Portrush but it may prove prudent to look further down the market.

Here, we look through some of the best priced longshots for the 2025 Open Championship. You’ll need to scroll down the British Open winner odds to find some of these selections but these three players may be over-priced ahead of Thursday’s opening round.
Xander Schauffele – 23/1
The defending British Open champion. Has placed T-30 in 2025 majors thus far. Better value odds-wise than popular picks like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm or Scottie Scheffler.
Cam Young – 76/1
Has performed well at the British Open the past 3 years with finishes of T31, T8 and 2nd. Showed great form at the US Open last month with a T4 finish. A sleeper pick with lucrative odds.
Alex Noren – 80/1
Longer odds but a great longshot play. A very savvy links golfer who previously won the Scottish Open in 2016 and had a T20 finish in this year’s PGA Championship. If weather is a factor, Noren has proven to excel when forced to scramble in windy conditions.
