Rory McIlroy Odds For The Open Championship 2025

Ryder Cup 2025

Rory McIlroy has been a market mover in The Open Championship market following his second-place finish at the Scottish Open last weekend.

The five-time major champion is now a 6/1 chance (from 13/2) to clinch the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush, with Scottie Scheffler still heading the sports betting market at 5/1.

Chris Gotterup pipped McIlroy to victory in the Scottish Open last weekend but he is priced at 100/1 to lift the Claret Jug. Could he spring another shock for the second Sunday running?

Open Championship 2025 Outright Winner Odds:

Punters can bet on the outright winner of the 2025 Open Championship at William Hill and the current state of the market can be seen below:

  • Scottie Scheffler – 5/1
  • Rory McIlroy – 6/1
  • Jon Rahm – 11/1
  • Tommy Fleetwood – 20/1
  • Bryson DeChambeau – 22/1
  • Xander Schauffele – 22/1
  • Shane Lowry – 22/1
  • Ludvig Aberg – 22/1
  • Robert MacIntyre – 25/1
  • Viktor Hovland – 28/1
  • Collin Morikawa – 28/1
  • Tyrrell Hatton – 28/1
  • Matt Fitzpatrick – 40/1
  • Justin Rose – 40/1
  • Bar – 45/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Rory McIlroy came within a whisker of his second Scottish Open title and while golf fans may have been hoping to see him go one better, his runner-up finish was a reasonably good result for us ahead of The Open.

“Robert MacIntyre once again proved popular with punters, attracting the most selections at 7.4%, just ahead of McIlroy (6.8%) and Ludvig Aberg (6.4%). But in terms of money staked, Rory was head and shoulders above the rest, taking in 18.2% of all tournament stakes, with Aberg next best at 7.1%.

“Looking ahead to Royal Portrush, McIlroy’s Open odds have been clipped into 6/1 from 13/2 following his strong showing in Scotland. Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose also saw support this weekend, both shortening from 50/1 to 40/1, while Scottie Scheffler has eased slightly to 5/1 from 9/2.”

With all eyes on the five-time major champion at Royal Portrush, the pressure is on McIlroy to perform. Can he clinch the Claret Jug in front of his home fans? Only time will tell.
