Scheffler shortest price since Tiger Woods to win a PGA Tour event
World No.1 7/4 to win CJ Cup Byron Nelson; mirroring Woods’ 2009 odds
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We are having to price Scottie Scheffler in a way usually reserved for peak‑era Tiger Woods – 7/4 for a full‑field PGA Tour event is virtually unheard of in the modern game, and you have to go back to Tiger at 6/4 for the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2009 to find anything comparable.
“The world No.1 is defending champion at TPC Craig Ranch and has opened up a huge gap at the head of the market, with Si Woo Kim next in at 12/1, Jordan Spieth at 14/1 and Brooks Koepka priced 20/1.
“Scheffler went off as short as 11/4 last year and ended up winning by eight shots; he’s by far our biggest liability this week so we’re hoping for an outsider to cause an upset in Texas.”
