Charlie Hills’ William Hill blog: Ascot should really suit Mutasaabeq

Ascot Friday

I’m looking forward to running Tanmawwy in the six-furlong handicap (5.11pm) at Ascot. We had looked at a race at Windsor but we just thought this was a better opportunity. I was more than happy with the way he ran at the Royal meeting because if the race had been run over six he would have been bang there, so dropping back in trip seems the more than logical step. He’s in good form and we’re hopeful.

Ascot Saturday

We’re stepping up Inverness to a mile and six furlongs (2.25pm) and it’s a distance and perhaps even further that I’m hopeful he’ll excel over. He’ll like the fast ground and I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes here.

Equality runs in the five-furlong handicap (3.00pm) and we’re pretty hopeful he’ll go well in this valuable prize. He ran a cracker in the Dash at Epsom and has actually been dropped a pound for that, so you’d have to think he’s handicapped to run another big race. He’s a very fast horse and the race should be run to suit.

Things haven’t really gone right for Mutasaabeq on his last two starts and we’re hoping for a bit more luck in the Summer Mile (3.35pm). He pulled a front shoe off coming out of the stalls at Epsom which clearly wasn’t ideal, and I think Ascot will suit him much better anyway. I’ve been really happy with him at home and he should go very well.

Chester Saturday

Over at Chester, we run Loves Me Likearock in the six-furlong fillies’ handicap (3.08pm). She wasn’t really suited by the five furlongs at Ascot and was just rushed off her feet so this trip and also the grade of the race should suit her a lot better.

It’s becoming quite hard to place Tuscan but he should have a solid each-way chance in the Listed City Plate Stakes (3.43pm). He always gives his all and he’s certainly one who never lets you down in terms of effort.

Newmarket Saturday

We run two in the Bunbury Cup (3.50pm) at Newmarket on Saturday. Tommy De Vito probably just got a bit tired at Newcastle last time as there was quite a long gap between his races, so he should strip fitter here with that run under his belt.

I’d like to think The Attorney should be pretty competitive too. He’s come out of his last race at Newcastle in good nick and often goes well at Newmarket, so we’re hoping he can do so again.
