Charlie Hills’ William Hill blog: Newbury winner Iberian could head to the Superlative next

| BY News Team

I was really happy with Iberian at Newbury on Thursday. We’d liked what we’d seen at home and I thought he travelled in the style of a good horse, so we were thrilled. We might look at the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket next.

York, Saturday

We run Saratoga Gold in the Queen Mother’s Cup Handicap (2.00pm). Kayleigh [Stevens] won on him on last year and she rode him in a bit of work this week and everything went well, so we’re looking forward to seeing how he goes. He’ll like the fast ground and the trip, so I’d be hopeful he can be involved.

Rabaah takes his chance in the Heritage Handicap (3.40pm). He ran pretty well in the Listed race at Newbury last time, but unfortunately that means he has gone up seven pounds in the handicap. It’s clearly a very competitive race, but he looks to have a nice draw and the ground should be fine for him.

Sandown, Saturday

Bodorgan should go well in the one-mile handicap (2.15pm). He had a really bad draw at Haydock last time, but still ran very well to finish fifth. That was after a long break and with natural improvement, he should be there or thereabouts in this contest. He’d be among our better chances this weekend.

The draw in three isn’t ideal for Harry Magnus ahead of the seven-furlong handicap (3.25pm), but he’s in good form at home. He didn’t run great at Doncaster last time, but if he can return to the form of his win at Newmarket on his first start of the season then you’d have to think he’d go close.

Chester, Saturday

Saxon King has been drawn a bit wide in 10 in the Seaside Handicap (3.20pm). He did a nice piece of work this week, though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him run well despite the draw.
