Kevin Stott’s William Hill blog: Hoping Tarraab can make it a hat-trick

Ascot, Saturday

I’ve got a nice book of rides at Ascot on Saturday starting with Blanchland in the novice stakes (2.00pm). There are only eight runners and it’s great that my lad has had experience already. He is likely to have improved from that start at Newbury when finishing a nice sixth.

Aratus looks a good ride to have picked up in the seven-furlong handicap (3.10pm). He was unlucky last time having won his group, but unfortunately he was drawn on the wrong side. We are in stall one which is the right side as most winners have been middle to far side on the straight course at Ascot this year. Hopefully we have a bit of luck in running as he gets ridden with cover but I’m hopeful for a big run.

Night Of Luxury is another who looks to have a good chance in the Lavazza Stakes (3.45pm). Godolphin have a very strong hand in the race and let’s just hope I’m on the right one! It’s a really competitive race, but Night Of Luxury has been in great form and improving with each start. He steps up in trip for the first time and that could unlock even more improvement.

I’m hoping Tarraab can make it a hat-trick in the mile fillies’ handicap (4.20pm). I won on her at Haydock last time where she travelled very well throughout and quickened up to win nicely. She idled a little in front, so there was definitely more in the tank. Hopefully she can settle early on here, and we can finish well again. I’m delighted to be getting back on her, she’s a lovely filly.

Blue De Vega is a total legend! He won at big odds on his seasonal reappearance but hasn’t fired since. He’s won at Ascot twice previously so hopefully he can bounce back in the five-furlong handicap (5.30pm).
