Nick Luck’s blog: One to shout about in the nursery

Goodwood is here and our man Nick Luck will be previewing the action each day. Nick Luck has run his eye over six races from day four here.

MELLOW MAGIC is the selection at 15/2 in the opener at Glorious Goodwood on Day 4 (1.50pm). She’s certainly not blessed with much pace, but that may be a plus over this trip, as she does keep going relentlessly. She’s shown good form on this track before and is one of the few still on the mild upgrade.

ROCCHIGIANI can land a blow for Germany at 13/2 in the Thoroughbred Stakes (2.25pm). He ran a fine race in the Jersey last time, staying on well to suggest that he would be suited by a return to a mile. That backed up a good second to the very smart Maljoom in the German guineas and I like Tom Marquand taking over.

REBEL TERRITORY is worth backing each way at 9/1 in the Golden Mile (3.00pm). He has taken a big step forward the last twice, can realistically be expected to improve for his winning seasonal debut, isn’t badly drawn, and has form here. His stable always needs watching closely at this fixture.

RAASEL is hardly a secret now, but I’ve been saying all year this is his race, so I’m not deserting him now at 4/1 in the King George stakes (3.35pm). This track and the likely set-up are tailor made for a really strong traveling horse, as he showed here earlier in the year. The draw isn’t ideal, but he will he pouncing late anyway, so it’s not the disaster it might otherwise have been.

FANCY MAN can win at 13/2 in the Glorious Stakes (4.10pm). He ran an excellent race under a huge weight in a handicap at Haydock, rather unfortunate not to finish a good bit closer. That showed him in very good heart, and this doesn’t look the strongest race for the grade.

SILENCER makes a lot of each way appeal at 12/1 in the nursery (4.45pm). He ran a decent race in the Windsor Castle when rather marooned in no man’s land, then didn’t get the run of the race at Chester, when again looking as though this step up in trip would suit.
