Nigel Twiston-Davies’ William Hill Blog: Can Chewy Master the track at Aintree?

| BY News Team

Thursday’s racing at Ludlow has – I hope – set us up well for a good weekend at Cheltenham and Aintree; Moveit Like Minnie won his race after Norman Fletcher, The Kniphand and Awesome Foursome had all finished second, so – with any luck – we’re going the right way.

Sunday, Aintree

First up is Equinus in the 3m½f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.50pm). He’s a nice young horse who I hope will run really well. We’re trying to be a bit clever by taking off 10 pounds, giving him every extra chance, but we’re happy with him. I think this race looks winnable for him, and James Turner’s 10 pounds is a bit of a gift because he’s been riding so well.

Next is Master Chewy in the 2m novices’ handicap chase (3.45pm). He’s a very nice horse who jumps really well and we should be expecting great things from him. He’s been schooling very nicely at home, so we’re hopeful but we’ll have to see what he does here as it is his first run of the season. We’re going to take every step at a time with him, but we like him very much and hope he can do himself justice.
