Nigel Twiston-Davies’ Blog: Hoping Weveall got some races Caught at Cheltenham

| BY News Team

The big week is finally upon us; Cheltenham is here.

We’re going to be very busy with runners this week and, while it’s really disappointing to have to stand Broadway Boy down due to a dissatisfactory Tracheal Wash, he’s perfectly okay and will be back in time for Aintree, so we won’t be missing him for long.

Keeping him off the racetrack this week is in the best interest of everyone, not least Broadway Boy.

Cheltenham, Tuesday

We have our first runners of the week in the Arkle (2.10pm); Master Chewy and Matata. They’ve both really pleased me this season and I couldn’t separate them here. Yes, they have a bit to find on ratings with the Irish horses at the top of the market, but they’re right there with the very best of the British runners and they deserve to take their chance. They’re a very consistent pair, and I think they’re both heavily overpriced at 20/1. Based on what they’ve shown so far, I wouldn’t put anyone off putting their spare £1 on either of them!

We’re delighted that Weveallbeencaught has got into the Ultima (2.50pm). He had an entry in the Kim Muir, but this is the race we really wanted him in. He’s in smashing form at home and I think he’s better than his current mark suggests, so could well be ahead of the handicapper here. He’s a consistent horse and I think he’ll run really, really well here, so we can’t wait to get him to Cheltenham.

Then we have a new one in the Boodles (4.50pm); Les Loyautes. She’s just come over from France and this is her first run for us, so we’ve still got a lot to learn about her. I hope she’ll run well and she’s quite a nice filly who’s been working well, but she’s still learning about racing and we’re still learning about her.

Cheltenham, Wednesday

Guard Your Dreams runs in the Coral Cup (2.50pm). He’s done pretty well this season, having had a long time off, and he’s really well weighted, I think. The distance of 2m5f will help him, and I think he’s pretty worthwhile at 25/1, which is far too long a price for this horse. As far as I’m concerned, he’s one of my more likely winners of the week, so could be quite valuable!
