Nigel Twiston-Davies’ William Hill blog: Bristol will win National Trial with Lingfield repeat

William Hill ambassador Nigel Twiston-Davies looks ahead to his runners this weekend, including stable star Bristol De Mai’s run in the William Hill Grand National Trial at Haydock, while he also recaps on the runs of two of his horses last weekend.

Grand National

Good Boy Bobby has been given 10st 7lb for the Grand National which looks ideal. We’ve got no idea as to whether he’ll see out the National trip, but he’s bred for it and we’ll find out on the day.

He’s going to run at what was the Racing Post Chase at Kempton next, which should set him up nicely for the big one at Aintree.

Weekend runners

Bristol De Mai is going to go for the William Hill Grand National Trial on Saturday, and if he runs as well as he did at Lingfield he’ll win it no problem. He looks in exceptional form and the only real worry is that the racing will be called off with there being so much rain around.

We’re looking forward to having Wholestone back in the Rendlesham. He struck into his foot badly last time and it’s taken a little while to get him back. His foot fell apart and they’ve had to rebuild it, but he’s back and ready to run. He’s as fit as we can get him.

Goa Lil could be one to look out for at Newbury on Sunday. He’s a very genuine little horse who ran well in a hot race at Cheltenham last time out, and we’re expecting him to run well.

Last weekend

Zambella bounced back well at Uttoxeter last Saturday, even though she didn’t beat much. Two miles on good ground was too quick for her the time before and we’re delighted she’s proved herself again. All roads lead to the Mares’ Chase at Cheltenham now, where I’d expect her to have a very good each-way chance.

I Like To Move It was one of my horses to follow at the start of the season and we came so close to winning the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday. Another stride and he would have won, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. He still has options in the handicaps or the Supreme at Cheltenham.
