Nigel Twiston-Davies: Wouldn’t be running Bristol if we didn’t think he could compete

We’ve had a decent Autumn so far, and I Like To Move it winning the Greatwood was an obvious highlight.

He was marked up as one of our top horses to follow this season, so it was really pleasing to see him win like he did first time out. He’s come out of the race really well and all roads now lead to the International Hurdle next month.

One of our other stable stars is out this Saturday in the shape of Bristol De Mai (3:00pm).

He’s been working away well at home, and we’re very happy that the rain has finally come. We’re thinking that A Plus Tard might not be at his best if it’s really testing ground, whereas we know ours has no problem getting through it.

I know he’s getting older every day, but we wouldn’t be running him in this race if we didn’t think we could win it. All his preparations have gone very smoothly, and we really are hoping for a big run.

We’re under no illusions that we’re taking on a good Gold Cup winner, but we head there in really good form and are expecting a good showing.

Wholestone (2:25pm) ran superbly on his reappearance at Carlisle carrying a lot of weight. He came out of that well and his ready to go again, so fingers crossed he puts in another big effort.

The step up to 3m should suit and the only negative is he’s got to carry a lot of weight again.

Good Boy Bobby (3:35pm) didn’t run too badly when seventh at Ascot on his reappearance. The ground was a bit quick for him and he should be fitter for that run too.

He’s been dropped a couple of pounds by the handicapper too, so everything looks set for a big run.
