Royal Ascot Tips Day 1: Tuesday’s Best Bets & Predictions

William Hill News tipster Steve Mullington previews each race on Day 1 at the 2026 Royal Ascot meeting, so check out his best bets and tips on Tuesday’s action below.

With the runners and riders confirmed on Sunday morning, the time for talking is almost over. The form has been read and it’s time to find out who will prevail at Royal Ascot 2026.

Lucky Stable is a free-to-play racing game available every day during Royal Ascot. You can find it in the Lucky Stable lobby.

Just enter the Royal Ascot game and select “Reveal Stable” to draw five horses at random.  You win a share of the jackpot prize if three (3) or more of their drawn horses win their respective races.

2:30pm – Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1, 1m)

Charlie Appleby and Godolphin appear to have the monopoly on the opening race at Royal Ascot, saddling both the favourite and the second favourite in the current horse racing betting.

NOTABLE SPEECH (NAP) was last seen winning the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and a repeat of that performance would see him being very difficult to beat.

3:05pm – Coventry Stakes (Group 2, 6f)

NIGHT IN VEGAS is a perfect two from two thus far for the Eve Johnson Houghton stable, and his trainer is very good at targeting Royal Ascot races for her owners.

Despite losing both his front shoes at Goodwood, he still managed to win his race over today’s trip there and he can only keep improving. He will probably go off at a nice each-way price too.

3:40pm – King Charles III Stakes (Group 1, 5f)

Francis Graffard will be glad to see the back of the rain in the UK for his charge RAYEVKA (NB) here.

The Aga Khan Studs-owned filly fairly scooted home in the Group 3 Prix De Saint-Georges at ParisLongchamp and she will be a much better horse on favourable ground on this opening day of action.

4:20pm – St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1, 1m)

The banker on the first day for many will be BOW ECHO who boasts a perfect record of four wins from four starts.

The manner of his victory in the 2000 Guineas was nothing short of magnificent and most of his rivals will struggle to hold a flame to him in this Group 1.

Those looking for a forecast option may want to consider the Gstaad, who was a smart winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas.

5:00pm – Ascot Stakes Handicap (Class 2, 2m4f)

Dual purpose performers often do well in this staying marathon, and it is rather interesting that Gordon Elliott has booked Jamie Spencer to ride his six-year-old MORDOR in what is a wide-open affair.

Runner-up in the Goodwood Handicap last August, I reckon each-way punters will get a solid run for their money with him in this handicap.

5:35pm – Wolferton Rated Stakes (Listed, 1m2f)

Class mare SURVIE has taken to the UK racing scene well after her time in France and you would like to think that she can hold her own in a Listed contest at yet another premier racecourse.

A former Arc participant, she has performed with credit at all Group levels and she actually takes a relative drop in class today. At around 16/1 in our sports betting, she makes plenty of appeal.

6:10pm – Copper Horse Stakes Handicap (Class 2, 1m6f)

Tuesday’s getting out stakes is by no means easy, but I shall be chancing my value dart on ASCENDING for the shrewd man of Irish racing – Henry De Bromhead.

The six-year-old fits the profile of a Copper Horse winner and De Bromhead is sure to have plotted this race for some time. He could well be keenly punted upon on the day, so it may be worth taking an early price.
