Belgian Grand Prix preview: Norris to land third consecutive podium?

| BY News Team

As we continue through the European section of the F1 season, the drivers don’t have too far to travel as we head to Belgium off the back of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen yet again dominated but the likes of Lando Norris and Sergio Perez will be looking to build on their podium finishes.

We preview the race below.

No let up from Verstappen and Red Bull

It was much of the same from Max Verstappen and Red Bull at last week’s Hungarian Grand Prix as he won by over 33 seconds, a huge gap which has now become the norm given the Dutchman’s dominance on the grid.

That win not only broke the record for most consecutive race wins by a constructor with Red Bull bagging 12 in a row, but it also took Verstappen’s Drivers’ Championship lead to over 100 points.

With Verstappen pretty much nailed on to win the Belgian Grand Prix and 2/7, you might be able to find better value elsewhere with the Dutchman 13/8 to be the fastest qualifier, fastest lap and race winner this weekend.

His teammate Sergio Perez was back on form as he managed a third-place podium finish and the Mexican is 8/13 to be up on the podium again in Belgium.

Red Bull’s number two driver is also second to Verstappen in the Drivers’ Championship rankings, but he is favourite when it comes to the Drivers’ Championship without Max Verstappen at 2/5.

Lando set for podium hat-trick?

Lando Norris and McClaren certainly didn’t have the start to the season that they would have wanted but the Brit has found has been on red hot form ever since his fourth-place finish at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Norris has finished second in both of the last two races and at 4/6 he looks set to complete a hat-trick of top three finishes, whilst he will also be looking to secure more points for McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship and he is 1/5 to finish in the top six.

Norris’ fellow countryman Lewis Hamilton has also picked up recently, finishing in the top four in five of the last six races, with three podium finishes. At 6/4 a podium finish is probably as good a result as the seven-time World Champion can hope for with a win unlikely at 14/1.

Last season was Lewis Hamilton’s first in Formula 1 without a single win and that trend looks set to continue. Being without a win for two consecutive seasons would have been unthinkable for the motor racing legend but at 13/8 to win any Grand Prix for the remainder of the season it looks as though Verstappen and Red Bull might be making that bleak picture a reality for Hamilton.
