US Open Predictions: Arthur Fery, Elena Rybakina & Best Bets – Tuesday 1st September 2026

| BY Sam Cox

Another day at the US Open and William Hill News are here to preview the action. Let’s take a look at the best tennis betting picks for September 1.

US Open Predictions for September 1:

  • Lorenzo Musetti to win and both players to win a set (11/8)
  • Rafael Jódar to win 3-0 (4/5)
  • Elena Rybakina -6.5 games (4/6)
  • Belinda Bencic to win 2-0 (4/6)

Arthur Fery vs Lorenzo Musetti Prediction

Can Arthur Fery back up his against-the-odds run at Wimbledon? The Brit reached the final of Winston-Salem, but that followed a straight-sets defeat to Alex De Minaur in the round of 32 in Cincinnati.

Since returning to action in Washington, Lorenzo Musetti has suffered two defeats to Rafael Jódar and lost to Frances Tiafoe in straight sets in the last eight in Cincinnati. The Italian was a quarterfinalist at this year’s Australian Open and made it to the last eight of the 2025 US Open.

It’s a while since Musetti has beaten a player ranked as highly as Fery. It’s not like Fery has proven he can see off top 20 players with any regularity either.

Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Rafael Jódar Prediction

Already a legitimate contender to go all the way, Jódar’s chances have been bolstered further with Arthur Fils and Novak Djokovic falling in the first round. Jódar, a finalist in Washington and semifinalist in Montreal, is appearing in his first US Open.

Thanasi Kokkinakis fell at the first round at Wimbledon and has won one US Open match since 2019. He lost in the first round in Cincinnati and hasn’t been making much noise on the Challenger Tour.

Yes, we’ve had some upsets already, but this should be an easy win for Jódar.

Thea Frodin vs Elena Rybakina Prediction

Elena Rybakina enters the US Open under a cloud of injury uncertainty. Even appearing at the tournament seemed unlikely when she retired with an injury in Cincinnati, but the world number two has been able to practice and is heavily favoured for her duel with Thea Frodin.

Making her US Open debut, Frodin is out at 9/1 to win this match. The 17-year-old has never faced a player anywhere near Rybakina’s calibre.

If she’s even 70% fit, Rybakina should win this at a canter.

Yulia Putintseva vs Belinda Bencic Prediction

This is the seventh meeting between Yulia Putintseva and Belinda Bencic, but the first since 2023. It’s one of the highest-profile first-round matches, with Putintseva ranked as high as 20th just last year.

Bencic has won the last two meetings and enters as the clear favourite for this contest. The Swiss star retired from the last two events, though, raising questions about her fitness coming into the final Slam of the year.

Putintseva is a former US Open quarterfinalist. She’s not been past the second round of a WTA 1000 event since 2024, however, and hasn’t beaten a player in the world’s top 90 since Roland Garros.
