The William Hill Sports Book of the Year is back for its 36th year!
Since 1989, we’ve seen the likes of Duncan Hamilton, Michael Holding and Jeremy Wilson walk away with the top prize, while last year saw Lauren Fleshman win with her book ‘Good for a Girl’.
The search for 2024’s winner is already well underway. This monthly newsletter will let you in on some of the titles under consideration and share some of our favourites from years gone by to try ahead of some big sporting events.
WILLIAM HILL SPORTS BOOK CLUB
Every month William Hill’s Sports Book Club discusses a contender for the big prize on Talksport. This month sees the panel chat about LIV and Let Die by Alan Shipnuck. The author will join Adrian Durham and our very own Neil Foggin to talk about the book, which delves into the world of LIV Golf.
WHAT TO READ THIS MONTH
Another busy month of sport kicks off with the final weekend of the Paralympics in Paris. Then, there’s the US Open tennis from Flushing Meadows, plus the Presidents Cup.

With the search for this year’s winner already well underway, here’s a short timeline of what’s to come in 2024:
- Deadline for paperwork to be submitted: Friday, 30th August
- Deadline for books to be sent in: Friday, 6th September
- Longlist announcement: Thursday, 3rd October
- Shortlist announcement: Thursday, 31st October
- Sports Book of the Year Awards: Tuesday, 19th November
