Roman can Reign supreme at Backlash

| BY News Team

WWE returns this Saturday as Backlash touches down at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, and William Hill News are on hand to predict how the night will unfold.

Fresh off a stacked main event at WrestleMania 42, WWE heads to the Sunshine State with scores to settle, rivalries to reignite, and a championship scene in full flow. With a card that promises intensity, here are our prediction for Backlash 2026.

Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins

  • Bron Breakker – 4/5
  • Seth Rollins – 10/11

Prediction: Bron Breakker To Win

The bad blood between these two has been simmering for months, and Backlash is where it could finally boil over. Rollins took Breakker under his wing as part of The Vision, only for Breakker and Bronson Reed to boot him from the faction. When Breakker returned at WrestleMania to cost Rollins his match, the countdown to this almighty collision began.

Rollins is one of the most complete performers in WWE history and will undoubtedly bring the drama. However, this feels like Breakker’s moment. The former Intercontinental Champion has come back from a lengthy injury layoff, and he needs a win to ramp up his momentum. We expect him to win dirty, with interference from The Vision which will set up a rematch at the next event.

A victory here does not end the story, if anything it sets the table for a rematch down the line. We are expecting Breakker to come out on top in a match that could steal the show.

Iyo Sky vs Asuka

  • Iyo Sky – 1/9
  • Asuka – 5/1

Prediction: Iyo Sky To Win

This is the match that has the potential to be the best of the night. Two of the most technically gifted women in WWE, and their story stretches back long before their careers began. Former teammates, then mentee and mentor, now bitter rivals.

The catalyst was Asuka’s interference in Sky’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Becky Lynch, followed by a prolonged and vicious post-match assault. Asula has leaned fully into her darkest persona, and Sky enters this contest with a personal fire that cannot be manufactured. With the emotional stakes this high, it should deliver something memorable.

Sky edges this one. Her redemption arc has been carefully built, and a victory here would give her the platform to push for the championship once more.

Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu

Prediction: Roman Reigns To Win

Roman Reigns walked out of WrestleMania 42 last month as World Heavyweight Champion and we expect that it’s far too early for him to drop the belt. Fatu has been ruthless since his arrival though, applying the Tongan Death Grip on Reigns to set this match in motion, and he comes into Saturday with something to prove.

Reigns is the current title holder and now holds the most ever appearances in WWE Main Events, demonstrating his longevity with no signs of slowing down. The Tribal Chief on the grandest of stages remains one of the safest picks in the business, and retaining the title here allows the story between these two to keep building further into the summer.
