King Kev to Phil his boots against Preston
Kevin Phillips will look to add to his already impressive ten league goals against Preston on Saturday.
The veteran striker has become a regular starter in recent weeks after manager Alex McLeish has stopped rotating his strikers as much as he did in the early weeks of the season.
Birmingham have often been lacking attacking fluency this season with their good start based on a solid defence rather than a spectacular attack. As McLeish struggled to find his ideal front pairing.
Kevin Phillips has some serious competition for a place in Birmingham's starting line-up. The Blues squad is full of attackers with Premier League experience including Cameron Jerome, Marcus Bent, James McFadden and Garry O'Connor.
But it is the old man of the striking ranks that has been scoring the goals for City as he has scored twice as many league goals than anyone else.
Phillips is available at 9/2 to score the first goal and 6/5 to score at anytime during the match.
Second-placed Birmingham are 6/4 to claim the three points to maintain their promotion credentials. A Preston win to continue their play-off push is also a 6/4 shot with the draw priced at 21/10.
The 6/4 about Birmingham looks like the bet. The Blues are undefeated in seven matches and this run should continue on Saturday against North End.
A draw looks unlikely though, as in 11 league matches at home Preston are yet to draw a match. Therefore the away win is where your money should be going.
