Spurs to beat Rovers black and blue

The early Sunday kick-off sees a match-up between second from bottom Tottenham and third from bottom Blackburn.

A win for either side would mean a leap up to 14th in the tight Premier League table.

Tottenham are the favourites to win the match at odds of 8/11.

Many punters could be put off at backing Spurs at such a short price given their inconsistency and erratic goalkeeper, however, I think it looks like the bet to be on.

Clown goalie Gomes has become a walking disaster and will most likely continue in the same fashion this afternoon; so it is fair to say a home clean sheet is probably not on the cards.

Despite the defensive failings, Tottenham have looked much improved of late when attacking. With three strikers in relatively good form, Spurs are spoilt for choice - a phrase that hasn’t been muttered many times in North London this season!

On-loan youngster Fraizer Campbell was impressive for the under 21s in mid-week, Darren Bent received a call-up to the full squad on the back of a good scoring run and Roman Pavlyuchenko just loves playing at the Lane, with four goals in his last four home matches.

Spurs will be without Croatian playmaker Luka Modric, but a combination of the above trio and/or Jermaine Jenas, David Bentley and Aaron Lennon should more than make up for his absence.

Blackburn are winless in seven matches and their last Premier League game was a demoralising home defeat to Sunderland.

Rovers are a 4/1 shot to take the three points and the draw is available at 5/2.

With Spurs likely to concede at least one, Roque Santa Cruz could be worth a bet at 5/2 to score at anytime during the match.
