You bet Champions League play-off is a non starter

William Hill are offering 9/2 that the Premier League WILL introduce a play off to determine who gets the fourth Champions League place, during the 2010/11 season - but offer 1/8 that they will NOT.

'This may seem an attractive idea in theory, but could result in a team finishing perhaps a dozen points or more away from an automatic Champions League place eventually qualifying for the tournament - what purpose would that serve? It would also mean more matches for tired players, which probably wouldn't play well with international team bosses. Would Fabio Capello be happy if that system were in place this season and a key player was injured as a result? We think it is a non-starter.' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
