Sentimental Fans Start To Back Schumacher
On the back of Michael Schumacher announcing his retirement again, William Hill punters have been piling on the German to win this weekend's Japan Grand Prix. He now represents one of the biggest losers for Hills ahead of the race.
"Schumacher is 100/1 to win the race at the moment, although the way in which punters are backing him to win, that price will not last for long," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. "Whether out of sentimentality or belief that he will actually go and win the race we can see him becoming our biggest loser come Sunday."
Since returning from retirement, Schumacher's highest position has been third place and William Hill are offering 14/1 that he wins one of the remaining six Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton is 2/1 favourite to win the race with Sebastian Vettel, very well backed at 4/1 and Fernando Alonso 5/1.
