Super League set for super betting bonanza
Super League set for super £100m record bets bonanza
Super League kicks off at Headingley on Friday night with Official bookmaker William Hill predicting industry wide turnover on the season will break the £100m barrier for the first time.
With no summer football tournament taking place this year, rugby league will be second only to cricket in terms of domestic sports betting turnover between June to August.
The season starts with Leeds - 11/8 favourites with Hills to top the regular season ladder - playing host to Super League new boys Celtic Crusaders, 5/4 favourites to finish bottom. Hills are offering 9/2 that both sides live up to their pre-season billing and finish at opposite ends of the table. And with some commentators predicting a score more commonly seen at the nearby cricket ground, Hills are offering 20/1 that the winning margin on Friday night proves to be the biggest of any match during the regular season.
On handicap Hills ask Leeds to concede 22 points to the Crusaders, with both teams priced at 10/11 and the tie 16/1.
Reigning Champions Leeds are 16/1 with Hills to go one better than last season win and all four trophies available to them (World Club Challenge, Challenge Cup, League Leader’s Shield, Grand Final), and 50/1 to win all 27 regular season matches.
Celtic Crusaders - the first side from Wales to compete in Super League - are 25/1 to lose all 27 regular season matches and 80/1 to win any of the major trophies.
Hills offer 14/1 about the Celtic Crusaders beating Leeds and Wales beating Scotland in the Six Nations on Sunday.
