Warriors can worry Rhinos
The live Super League game on Sky tonight, between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors at Headingley, will be well worth a break from the red-nosed comedy on the other side.
The home side, Leeds, have started this season in Super League with four wins from four outings and showed their Champions class in overcoming a dominant Warrington last week.
Wigan had a shocking start with defeats to Wakefield, Castleford and Hull but have since turned it around with a somewhat lucky win over the Harlequins and a 44-10 rout of a woeful Bradford outfit last week.
Leeds though haven't been convincing in victory and could come unstuck against Wigan tonight. The handicappers give Wigan an eight-point start and given how close the game is expected to be that margin is hard to resist.
Wigan have a great record at Headingley. They have turned up as underdogs many times in recent occasions and come away with at least a draw.
In our Super League podcast, Tim Pakyurek goes as far as to suggest that the Cherry and Whites won't even need the head-start tipping up a Warriors win at 9/4. Our other experts are divided: Barrie McDermott plumps for Leeds and Terry O'Connor takes Wigan +8.
Close it will be. Leeds have a habit of being quick out of the blocks and could well win the Race to Ten Points at 8/15 within the first 10 minutes - or even less as they did against Warrington. Wigan will then settle into the game with the sides going in level at half time - a 12/1 punt is available on that.
The second half will be all about defence and the total points for the game could come in well under 42 at Even money.
A lucky bounce, a dubious pass or a tight call from the officials will decide what is set to be a cracking game - it will be no laughing matter but you won't find entertainment like it on the box tonight.
