The Favourites

Sweden – KAJ: “Bara Bada Bastu” – 10/11
Sweden is once again a leading contender, this time with a bold twist. KAJ’s ‘Bara Bada Bastu’ is an entry sung entirely in Swedish – a rare move from a country known for its English-language pop. With its tongue-in-cheek lyrics, the song has struck a chord with both national juries and the public. Sweden, already a Eurovision powerhouse with seven wins, could tie or even surpass Ireland’s record this year if KAJ clinches the trophy.

Austria – JJ: “Wasted Love” – 5/2
Austria has emerged as a dark horse with JJ’s emotional ballad ‘Wasted Love’. The song tells a story of heartbreak and renewal, which earned standing ovations during rehearsals. JJ’s stripped-back staging allows the raw emotion of the lyrics to resonate with listeners. Austria’s recent track record has been hit or miss, but this polished, heartfelt performance could bring them their third win.

Netherlands – Claude: “C’est La Vie” – 8/1
Representing the Netherlands, Claude brings a breezy pop number with ‘C’est La Vie’. Sung in a mix of English and French, the song is based on the unpredictability of life, including unique choreography and vibrant optimism. ‘C’est La Vie’ has become a sleeper hit during rehearsals, climbing fan polls and gaining traction on streaming platforms. If it connects with viewers, the Netherlands could be heading for their second victory in six years.

France – Louane: “Maman” – 12/1
France’s Louane, a former The Voice finalist and established pop star, enters with ‘Maman’, a touching song about love and family struggles. Even though it’s been delivered in French, it has touched the hearts of European audiences. Louane’s performances on stage have made her one of the fan-favourites this year. France hasn’t won since 1977, but this entry could be the one to finally change that.

Notable Entries

Israel’s Yuval Raphael (16/1) brings a message of hope with ‘New Day Will Rise’. As a survivor of the October 7 Hamas attack at the Nova music festival, her performance carries significant emotional weight.

The United Kingdom’s Remember Monday (50/1), a pop trio with a background in theatre, aims to make a mark with ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’.

Ireland’s Emmy (100/1) offers a tribute to the Soviet space dog with ‘Laika Party’, an upbeat track envisioning a happier fate for Laika. Her performance has been buoyed by strong Irish fan support.
