Major Sporting Events in June 2025

Summer 2025 is set to be a big one for sports fans across the world, kicking off with a jam-packed June schedule.
Here we take a look at some of the major events to keep an eye on throughout the month of June, from football to horse racing to golf.
NBA Finals, 5th – 22nd June
We kick off June on the other side of the Atlantic with the NBA Finals, beginning on the sixth and could run up until the 22nd. The teams currently in contention are the Conference Finalists, with the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers competing to represent the Eastern Conference, while over in the West the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Oaks & Derby, 6th – 7th June
June brings with it the second jewel in British horse racing’s Triple Crown, the Epsom Oaks and Derby. The Oaks is a contest for three-year-old fillies, which takes place on Ladies’ Day at Epsom racecourse, which is on Friday 6th June this year. The Derby, a Group One race for colts and fillies (no geldings) over one mile and four furlongs, is one of, if not the most prestigious race in the Flat racing calendar.
Charlie Appleby’s Ruling Court is set to attempt to secure the second leg of the Triple Crown after his 2000 Guineas win at Newmarket and he is a 9/2-shot for the Epsom Classic. Unsurprisingly, it is Aidan O’Brien who saddles the top two in the market with Delacroix and The Lion In Winter both 11/4.
US Open, 12th – 15th June
The third golf Major of the year takes place in June as Oakmont Country Club plays host to the US Open, starting on Thursday 12th June. Last year’s edition was a thriller which saw Bryson DeChambeau pip Rory McIlroy to the title at Pinehurst.
McIlroy is 11/2 to get his revenge this year, with DeChambeau third in the betting at 9/1. The formidable Scottie Scheffler is currently the 10/3 favourite following his PGA Championship triumph.
FIFA Club World Cup, 15th June – 13th July
A new addition to the calendar is this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, which will attract the interest of more fans than ever before. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the United States, with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami representing the host nation.
Chelsea and Manchester City will be representing England and both are seen to have a fair chance at winning the tournament. Chelsea are 10/1 to land the trophy with City second in the betting at 9/2, behind 4/1 favourites Real Madrid.
Royal Ascot, 17th – 21st June
The second of June’s feature horse racing events is Royal Ascot, which brings five days of elite Flat racing for fans from around the world to enjoy. It all kicks off on Tuesday 17th June, with the first day featuring three Group One contests.
The feature race on the final day, Saturday 21st June, is the Group One Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs. Khaadam is seeking a hat-trick in the race but is a 25/1 outsider this year, with potential French raider Lazzat the 7/2 ante-post favourite.
Wimbledon, 30th June – 13th July
We round off the month with the start of tennis’ most prestigious tournament, Wimbledon. Wimbledon gets underway on the final day of June and will run until the men’s singles final on Sunday 13th July.
Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets in last year’s final and he’s the 6/4 favourite to go back-to-back. Barbora Krejčíková was a shock winner of the ladies’ singles last year and is a 10/1-shot to defend her title.
