Epsom Oaks Tips: Runner-By-Runner Guide To 2026 Race
A look at the nine declared runners for the 2026 Oaks at Epsom Downs, with William Hill News previewing the chances of each runner and we’ve even got a 1-2-3 forecast for readers.
Registered as one of Great Britain’s five historic Classic horse races, and exclusively open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies, this season’s Epsom Oaks on Friday 5 June has attracted a total of nine entries.
William Hill News tipster Steven Mullington goes through the runners one by one and assesses their chances. You can find the latest horse racing betting for the Epsom Oaks in our markets before Friday’s big race.
A La Prochaine
With Epsom recently receiving significant rainfall, A La Prochaine – who won her debut on soft ground at Newbury – takes a huge advantage into the race as the surface eases.
She finished a promising third in the Cheshire Oaks and can kick on once more from that effort. She’ll be in the mix for the lion’s share of this year’s Epsom Oaks prize money, that’s for sure.
Amelia Earhart
Cemented her Classic credentials by comfortably winning the Listed Cheshire Oaks by two lengths.
Her proven soft-ground performances give her a major edge and being sired by Camelot, the step up to 1m4f trip at Epsom looks completely ideal.
She is also proving to be a popular pick with punters and will feature in plenty of NAPs table picks on Friday.
Cameo
Booked her ticket to Epsom with a highly impressive performance in the William Hill Lingfield Oaks Trial, proving she can handle a tricky, undulating track with authority.
A strong gallop at Epsom will play directly into her hooves. Fancied in our ante-post preview around a month ago, the general picture of the race has changed but she can still run a big race.
K Sarra
Finished a highly encouraging third in the Musidora Stakes at York and under Rossa Ryan, can use her stamina to pass tiring horses in the closing stages of the contest.
Legacy Link
Her Classic claims were enhanced when she won the Musidora Stakes at York, and John Gosden has used that tried and trusted Knavesmire route before with Soul Sister in 2023.
She also passed a crucial Epsom course gallop with flying colours.
On Message
Her third-place finish at Goodwood recently went some way to exposing her limits against Listed-class fillies, meaning she will require something just short of a miracle to worry the principles in this Group 1.
Sugar Island
Was well beaten behind her stablemate Amelia Earhart in the Cheshire Oaks, but she can be excused that was because the ground was far too quick for her.
Conversely her best form came when making all the running to win a Group 3 at the Curragh in heavy ground, comfortably defeating Thundering On, which makes her a lively outsider in the predicted weather conditions.
Thundering On
Has proven form on yielding ground and handles any easing in the turf, which makes her a major contender for Joseph O’Brien.
After recording a commanding 3¼-length victory in the Group 3 Salsabil Stakes at Navan, she will be spot on for this challenge.
Venetian Lace
By Derby winner Masar out of a Dubawi mare, Venetian Lace finished an exceptional third in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The potential for a deluge of rain is a worry for her though as she hated the slower surface in last year’s May Hill Stakes.
Epsom Oaks Prediction 1-2-3:
- Amelia Earhart
- A La Prochaine
- Thundering On
