Competitive eater Joey Chestnut is the overwhelming 1/20 favourite with William Hill to win the 2026 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July, the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

The 17-time champion is odds on at 8/13 to eat 70 or more hot dogs in just 10 minutes, whilst it’s 7/2 that he breaks his record of 76. Chestnut’s nearest rivals are Patrick Bertolleti at 8/1, with James Webb behind at 25/1.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 2026

  • Joey Chestnut – 1/20
  • Patrick Bertoletti – 8/1
  • James Webb – 25/1
  • Geoffrey Esper – 33/1
  • Nick Wehry – 33/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Whilst many Americans will be celebrating the 250th birthday of their country on the 4th of July, the 2026 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest takes centre stage in the world of competitive eating.

“Joey Chestnut has been imperious in competitive eating challenges over the last two decades, having won this contest 17 times, and he is 1/20 to retain his crown this time around.

“It’s odds-on that he consumes 70 or more hot dogs, whilst a record amount of 77 or more eaten is 7/2. We certainly can’t rule out the world’s best competitive eater celebrating the 4th of July with another record-breaking win.”
