English Open Predictions Today: 3/1 Fancy Among Best Bets On Wednesday
William Hill News preview Wednesday’s action at the English Open snooker tournament – let’s take a look at the best snooker betting picks for September 9.
English Open Betting Tips Today:
- Chang Bingyu to win (10/11)
- Matthew Selt +1.5 frames (10/11)
- Shaun Murphy to win 4-2 (3/1)
Chang Bingyu vs Kyren Wilson Prediction
Receiving a walkover after Jak Jones’ withdrawal, Chang Bingyu begins his English Open campaign against Kyren Wilson. Chang is coming off an extraordinary run to the Wuhan Open title, which was only the second time he’d even made the quarter-final of a ranking event.
Wilson lost to Chang in their only previous meeting, which came at last year’s Scottish Open. A run to the final of the Shanghai Masters is the only real positive for Wilson so far this season.
We are backing the in-form man here.
Mark Williams vs Matthew Selt Prediction
Matthew Selt has only won six out of 27 frames he’s played against Mark Williams. It wasn’t the flashiest performance, but Selt will have been happy to see off Hossein Vafaei in the first round here.
Williams hasn’t been at his sharpest. He was taken to a deciding frame in the first round and lost to David Gilbert without getting a frame on the board in the British Open earlier this season.
We don’t expect Selt to pull off an upset, but there are signs that he can be competitive in this one.
Jamie Clarke vs Shaun Murphy
Shaun Murphy has won 13 of his 15 frames against Jamie Clarke. Clarke dug deep to beat Gilbert in a deciding set in the first round, but he’s a clear underdog for this contest with Murphy showcasing his big-break ability over his last couple of matches.
There’s enough in Clarke’s form to suggest he can put up a bit of a fight here. Murphy has hardly been unstoppable this season, but there’s a chasm between the players as the head-to-head record indicates.
