England vs India Second ODI 2026: Predictions, Odds & Betting Tips

| BY News Team

England and India’s ongoing white ball series continues on Thursday with the second of three One Day Internationals.

England failed to continue their flawless form against the visiting side and India gained revenge for their 4-0 loss in the T20 series by taking the first 50-over game at Edgbaston.

After rampant displays with the bat throughout the T20 series, England suffered at the crease and paid the price for it as India chased down the lacklustre total of 258 in 45.2 overs, losing just four wickets.

India went about their business in efficient style, with three of their seven batsmen scoring half centuries to follow up from their bowlers’ strong performances.

India will hope for more of the same in Cardiff as England regroup and look to bounce back.

Prediction: England to win – 10/11

England made hard work of their innings at Edgbaston and the middle order was simply not up to the required standard as Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Will Jacks managed a mere 26 combined runs. That said, India hardly blitzed their total and the plethora of talent in the England line up means there’s every chance they can return with a bang. It may be worth taking their inflated price of 10/11 about them here.

England (10/11)

Joe Root was once again England’s saviour as he stuck in with the middle order collapsing around him, eventually finishing not out with 76 runs from as many balls. He’s the leading light and the unsurprising favourite to be England’s top run scorer at 13/5.

Harry Brook’s form has been inconsistent and he, along with Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler and Sam Curran, will need to return to something closer to their best if they are to level the series in Cardiff on Thursday.

England’s bowlers can’t be blamed for Tuesday’s loss after they weren’t given enough runs to defend, but they made a fist of it and Josh Tongue was probably the standout performer despite taking only one wicket. He’s the pick of them in the top bowler market at 17/5.

India (10/11)

The fact both teams are evenly priced shows just how hard this game is to call, but India are the team heading to Cardiff with the wind in their sails.

The return of a number of big names has given them a boost from their 4-0 T20 thrashing, and it was captain Shubman Gill who shone. Gill made 80 runs 75 runs before retiring hurt and that could be a blow to his side if he doesn’t return fully fit. Virat Kohli didn’t return with a bang but he could be good value at 17/5 to take the mantle back from his injured captain and top score.

Prasidh Krishna was the man behind England’s middle order collapse, taking the wickets of Jos Buttler and Sam Curran in the same over. He’s 10/3 to be India’s top bowler, but it may be wise to side with star seamer Jasprit Bumrah, who is 23/10 to lead the charge.
