Celtic hold edge over Hearts as rollercoaster season reaches conclusion
William Hill reveal dramatic odds swings throughout campaign ahead of tonight’s key fixtures
William Hill make Celtic the 4/6 favourites to be crowned Scottish champions, ahead of tonight’s key fixtures.
After a rollercoaster campaign of twists and turns, Martin O’Neill’s Hoops are odds-on to defend their title, despite lying a point behind league leaders Hearts going into this evening’s trip to Motherwell.
Hearts are on the brink of making history, aiming to become the first club outside of the Old Firm to win the Scottish title since Aberdeen in 1985, and are 11/10 to pip Celtic to the title.
Latest data revealed by the league sponsor show Hearts were major outsiders before a ball was kicked back in August 2025, priced 22/1, but their remarkable rise up the table saw them move to odds-on favourites (4/6) to claim the William Hill Premiership last week, until drifting to 11/10 following the draw at Motherwell.
Celtic – 4/6
Hearts – 11/10
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We’re witnessing one of the most dramatic William Hill Premiership title races in a generation, and the fluctuation in odds throughout the year shows exactly why.
“The prices for Hearts, Celtic and Rangers have moved sharply throughout the season as momentum has changed hands time and again. All three sides have held a share of the market lead; from the Gers leading the pack in April, to Hearts moving odds-on last week, to now the Hoops having the edge in the outright.
“Hearts are on the brink of a truly historic achievement, but with Celtic leading the betting at 4/6 and Derek McInnes’ men now second-favourites at 11/10, the market is telling us there could yet be another twist in these final two round of fixtures.”
